Reproductive care can bring up feelings of fear and shame; prior mistreatment or a history of sexual abuse in the mix can lead to avoidance of care all together. Unfortunately, medical professionals are often stretched thin and unable to show up as both expert and empathetic support. A study reflected one in five birthing people report mistreatment at some point during their maternal care, and that “45% of all mothers reported holding back from asking questions or discussing concerns with their provider.”
You deserve a trauma-informed care team who values the vulnerability and trust you place in your provider. Reproductive care can be affirming, warm, safe, and life-saving. I am here to empower you to own your reproductive health. I help build a plan specific to your story, prepare you for conversations with your provider, and partner with your care team to ensure your voice is heard.
